- Alfonso Segovia is a talented creative and imaginative artist. He has been writing, painting, and creating sculptures since he was a child. Segovia's reputation as writer, painter and sculptor grew stronger among his art teachers and fellow students at school in his natal Barranquilla, Colombia. Segovia studied Social Communications and Journalism at the Universidad Autónoma del Caribe, and worked for Diario La Libertad and wrote some articles for Diario El Caribe in his natal city until he graduated. Segovia then moved to the USA/Chicago where he continued working on his writing, painting, and sculpting. His passion for art has enabled him to utilize color and form to illustrate his universal world of reality and fantasy. Segovia’s paintings and sculptures carry the magic of his fiction and non-fiction writings that project his endless dreaming soul. Segovia has presented his paintings and sculptures on local and national television, at his place of business, galleries/New York/Italy/Miami/Spain/etc, restaurants, and shows. Segovia was also a professional nail technician in the USA, making a living out of it. *YES! He painted art and built sculptures on nails in Chicago, winning all mayor competitions at a local and national level, which took him to the Hall of Fame by a well known global Nail Magazine. Because of the artist’s theme winning sculptures, he was nicknamed: ‘The Jungle Man.’
